About Dillard-Moore, Newman, Rankin and Spray Genealogy

Families
Migration Map

Greetings. My name is Tamera (Rankin) Kwist and this site features the ancestry of my paternal
grandparents Martin "Mart" L. Vee Rankin and Effie Jean "Jeannie" Moore.

Mart Rankin's paternal line came from Ireland to Virginia, USA in the late 1600's. His son has
been
gracious enough to do the Y-DNA test through FTDNA and is a descendant of John
Rankins born before 1776 from Stafford County, Virginia. See the Rankin Y-DNA Page at:
http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/rankin/results
Haplogroup R1b Lineage V

John Rankins' children Peter B, George and Frankie Rankins migrated from Stafford County, Va into
Warren County, Ohio around 1816. From there, the family moved into Clinton, Adams, Scioto, Pike and
Allen Counties in Ohio. Peter B. Rankin's Great Great Grandson, Mart Rankin moved to Ft. Worth, Texas with his parents around 1931 and to Houston, Texas a little over a decade later and remained
there until the time of his death in 1969.

Mart Rankin's maternal line is the Newman family who settled in Adams and Scioto
Counties,
Ohio as the state opened for settlement. His mother Glada "Blanche" Newman's earliest known
ancestors are George Newman b.1740 in Virginia and Mary Naomi Robertson.

Jeannie Moore's paternal lineage had a surname change when her father Charles Floyd
Dillard
started going by the last name Moore to avoid the WWI draft. Charles paternal
grandfather was
Alfred Newsome Dillard, a trader who settled in New Madrid, Mo with his father and Grandfather
around 1800 and later moved to Arkansas. A.N. Dillard listed his birthplace as North Carolina
and it
is there I hope to find the Dillard roots.

Jeannie Moore's mother was Laura Louise Spray, who has deep roots with both Quaker and
Indian
(Cherokee & Pawnee) ancestry on her paternal line. The Spray line migrated from Ohio into
Oklahoma,
while Laura's mother's Rasberry line had migrated from Tennessee into Oklahoma.
